Kirstin Israel
Photographer | Little Guide Macon
Kirstin Israel is a local freelance photographer and two-time Macon transplant, first moving to Macon in 1995 as a student. Following high school, Kirstin lived in Encinitas, California where she taught in special education and discovered a deeper love of photography, before returning in 2011 to marry Matthew, her high school sweetheart. Working freelance since 2016, the inspiration to pursue photography came from her grandmother who worked for Kodak for 30 years, and who influenced Kirstin to explore the art of making pictures. Whereas, most children would write imaginary tales, Kirstin would instead create stories by taking photos and sequencing them on paper, unfolding stories of her own. A talented artist, her love of photography extends to more than just highlighting a moment. Kirstin catches the entirety of a subject’s story in a single image – she captures the essence of people doing what they love to do, and focuses on the authentic and timeless moments that make life precious. In addition to spending time growing her business, Kirstin is also very involved with her church community and family activities. She enjoys her busy life with Matthew and their children, Kiya, Matilda, Quinn and Eleanor.
